Titian and 16th century painting between Venice and Brescia

SANTA GIULIA museum - BRESCIA

Renewing the tradition of exhibitions dedicated to the great masters of ancient painting Brescia celebrated another of the protagonists of the Brescia Renaissance with the exhibition Titian and 16th century painting between Venice and Brescia.

The aim of the exhibition is to focus, in its most spectacular appearances, on the relationship between the artistic cultures of Brescia and Venice during the sixteenth century. The exhibition project revolves around Titian, primarily because of his two fundamental Brescia enterprises: the polyptych made for the bishop Altobello Averoldi between 1520 and 1522 in the collegiate church of Saints Nazaro and Celso, and the three paintings with the Allegories of Brescia, built in the sixties of the sixteenth century for the Salone della Loggia, then destroyed during the fire of 1575.

Divided into six sections, the exhibition allows you to retrace Tiziano's influence on the developments of Brescia's painting and to discover to what extent his arrival in the city provoked chain reactions in the most receptive exponents of local art, who could not help but confront the great master
