What is Pneumo-power?
It is the world’s first compressed-air-powered electric generator. Merely connect a compressed air pipe to the input to obtain a 24V DC power supply from an electrical connector.

Top
Does the voltage change with air pressure?
No. Pneumo-power electronics keep a constant voltage of 24V, regardless of the air pressure and the electric load applied, provided the catalogue data are complied with.

Top
Can it be left on all the time?
Yes. It can produce electricity for tens of thousands of hours.

Top
How do you switch it off?
Just cut off the compressed-air supply. A valve can be used (e.g. the V2VL in the line-on-line series) or a 2/2 or 3/2 solenoid valve, which can be a long way from the pneumo-power.

Top
Is there a minimum operating pressure?
Yes, 4 bar (0.4MPa, 58 psi) for the 3W model and 3 bar (0.3MPa, 44 psi) for the 7.5 and 12 W models.

Top
Is there a maximum operating pressure?
Yes, 7 bar (0.7 MPa, 100 psi).

Top
What happens if higher than rated power is used?
The Pneumo Power stops, the green light switches off and the red light starts flashing. It restarts automatically as soon as the power drops below the power threshold.

Top
Is the rated power always available?
No, it depends on the input pressure.

Top
Is power generation immediate?
No, it takes time to activate, which depends on the supply pressure and the electrical load supplied.

Top
Does it consume a lot of compressed air?
Air consumption depends on the model and pressure, so to avoid wastage, it is important to select the most suitable model. Consumption is low, however: for instance, generating 7.5W requires 50 Nl/min, which is the amount of air that can pass through a hole of 0.8mm in diameter.

Top
Is this alternative-energy system environmentally friendly?
No. The electricity generated by Pneumo-power costs more than mains power as the efficiency of both the compressor and the Pneumo-power is involved. With certain applications, however, cables, copper or gold connectors and so on can be eliminated, giving a positive, economic and ecologic balance. We are currently studying another generator version that will be called pneumo-energy-recovery, which re-uses residual energy from pneumatic cylinder discharge and this will save a considerable amount of energy.

Is it certified?
Pneumo-power bears the CE mark as it has passed tests in accordance with the following electromagnetic compatibility standards:
EN 61000-2: Part 6-2: Generic standards - Immunity for industrial environments.
EN 61000-2: Part 6-3: Generic standards—Emission standard for residential, commercial, and light-industrial environments.

Can it be used in an industrial environment?
Yes, the casing is made of treated and painted aluminium, so it is impact resistant. The index of protection is IP65, which means the electronic circuit is insulated from liquid and dust.

Top
Is it noisy?
No, it comes with a silencer/filter. The maximum noise level is 75 dB at 1 metre.
