MANAGEMENT REVIEW
ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
2009 IMPROVEMENT PLANS
Metal Work has drawn up a series of priority plans for improving the environmental and safety management system:
- Periodic analysis of hazardous substances present on site.
The intention is to reduce the amount of hazardous substances present and hence improve their management. This requires UAC (Purchases) to conduct a periodic analysis of purchase records and the heads of departments to assess the possibility of standardizing the substances used. The purpose of this assessment is to be able to eliminate all substances that are no longer indispensable or can be replaced with similar ones.
- Control of risks deriving from the use of tools and equipment.
The company plans to conduct a foreman awareness training campaign to highlight risk situations involved when using tools or equipment or failing to use PPE.
- Water paints
The intention is to use solvent-free paints and reduce the purchase of solvents used as catalysts or for cleaning purposes. It is estimated that the quantity of solvents present in purchased products should decrease by around 65%.
- Reduction in energy consumption by the production bays
This plan is a continuation and extension of that launched in 2008. The aim is to reduce energy consumption by high-power motors and also to focus attention on all situations in which the use of electricity can be rationalize.
