2005 EMS Report
INTRODUCTION
This report considers the input data for 2005 and presents considerations on them as well as opportunities for improvement in 2006.
Dekra conducted an inspection in December 2005, the result of which was positive.
The EMS had been implemented efficiently in terms of operations, routine activities and more managerial” improvement activities.
ACHIEVEMENT OF EMP TARGETS
The following plans to improve the organisations environmental performance were put forward for 2005:
- Modification of the compressor cooling system to increase efficiency.
The aim was to use heat recycled from compressor cooling to heat the showers and changing room, without using the boiler. The modifications made achieved this result, leading to reduced energy consumption.
- Replacement of the serigraphic printing method.
The method used so far to print (serigraphy) the trademark and wording on the item generates VOC emissions into the atmosphere.
We are gradually replacing this method with another one (tampography) that gives the same results in terms of permanence of the wording on the item but takes place in a closed-loop”, with no atmospheric emissions. Switching from serigraphy to tampography for all articles is expected to be completed by the end of 2006.
TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION
Several environmental training sessions were held in 2005. Most of them involving operators, regarded their work instructions. A training session on the Emergency and Evacuation Plan was also held for all operators and the heads of the various functions.
EXTERNAL REQUESTS
Ministerial Decree no. 44 of 16th January 2004 made it mandatory to issue a technical report on the current state of our systems generating VOC emissions, to be sent to the authorities by March 2005 and subsequently updated by October 2007.
No particular requests or solicitations on environmental issues were received from the community or our customers.
There were no visits by the inspection bodies.
The environmental aspects identified initially were upgraded following introduction of the tampography system, but this activity is not associated with significant effects on the environment.
The Environmental Policy, which was modified in 2003, is still considered to be appropriate.
ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE DATA AND INDICATORS
All the data and indicators shown in this section concern the whole of 2005.n° contravvenzioni=0;
Number of contraventions: 0
Number of incidents: 0
Exceeding the limits on the total analyses made: none
Number of complaints/reports from the parties involved: 0
The attached graphs show some of the indicators.
The four graphs below plot the emission test results for perchloroethylene, water waters (the test results are plotted as a percentage of the legal limits for suspended solids, mineral oils, total surfactants, copper, zinc and chemical oxygen demand, an index of the water sample s organic content) and oil mists (for each of the four points of emission – graph not in scale).
